Talking to my kids, I feel like a broken record. No, seriously, how many times do I need to repeat myself. Ever feel like that with your marketing message? Well, I am here to tell you - it's not you, it's them.
You see, most people (including my kids) don't hear anything the first dozen times you say it. They listen to what they want to hear and what they think they need to hear, but it's going to take a lot of repetition for your message to sink in - even if it's a perfect message.
Why? There's a whole slew of reasons, but if your message isn't compelling and it doesn't speak to them, they will never hear it at all. People respond to messaging that addresses them in the here and now. Here's a great example. In one of my networking groups, I was giving my 30-second commercial. All of a sudden, it clicked with one of the members that I can address a need of his. Why - because their need was now. It's not the first time I talked about what I can do, but it was the first time he heard that piece of my message that applied to him.
So what do you need to do to get heard - keep talking - your audience is there - but you are one noise among 1000 others. What to learn more about reaching your target audience - sign up for my July webinar - Let's Get Loud Without Making a Sound.
